We are a group of IT Professionals providing 24/ 7 technical support for server related technologies.
With a great team of dedicated experts scattered across the globe, we are in a position to take on any challenge that people may present to us.
Our mission is very simple: Deliver the absolute best service possible in everything we do.
We do our very best to fulfill this mission by learning more specialties expanding our capabilities and experts year after year, while working on open-source projects.
Playing with servers was our hobby years before Key4ce started. Our hobby turned into our work.
This love is reflected in our absolute dedication and commitment to each and every task we perform. We are not here for financial gain.
VirtualPF: Our first large open source project. As we use Hyper-v for a base we where searching for good firewall solution, Unfortunately we didn't find anything suitable that could be setup in a cluster form, Marco, Trevor and Angelo then started to work on an project of their own based up on PFSense.
Websitepanel-support.com: A new support site dedicated for Websitepanel, Due to problems with the project manager we desided to create our own dedicated support site so everyone can get the help they need, both community help as professional support, Professional manuals with video's, and Development that gets contributed back to the Websitepanel source.
New generation servers: Our previous high performance servers where well topped by this new generation servers, with the new SSD DC disks they reach speeds of over 2000MB's i/o's in a simple raid 5. Memory and cpu are also much more powerful then the previous generations.
Founder moves back to NL: After nearly 5 years in China Marco Tiggelaar moved back to The Netherlands together with his wife. We have obtained more staff in the Asian region to handle the 24/ 7 support and escalation issues in Marco's place.
New Datacenter NL: After careful consideration we moved to a new datacenter in The Netherlands: Serverius. It gives us access to modern equipment and there for redundant setups (redundant switches, A+B line feeds, LACP uplinks, etc...), a great amount of carrier pops directly in the datacenter and much more.
New Datacenter HK: Instead of a single geographical location we decided to move ahead with our GeoCluster setups where we picked Hong Kong as our location. As Marco Tiggelaar still lived in Shenzhen (next to Hong Kong) it was the next logical pick where connectivity in Asia to and from Europe is extremely difficult.
Key4ce osTicket bridge: Our first public open source development project of our own has started. A simple wordpress plugin that connects wordpress with osTicket ticket system, so people can start their own easy to use open source ticket desk within wordpress at no cost.
Platform Providers (Managed Servers): We developed new and powerful 1U Servers in combination with clustered software innovations. The servers are designed to fit perfectly in 19-inch racks for co-located servers. Alongside these servers, we launched a whole new line of products which we use to provide server solutions for other hosting companies.
New Powerful Linux web servers: We stopped using our Linux web servers a very long time ago when we switched to Windows web servers. However, subsequent innovations in the Linux world, particularly in Nginx and Apache server technologies, brought us to the realization that we could not afford to sideline our mothballed machines any longer. They made a big comeback in the form of powerful and ultra-fast Linux web-servers!
Key4ce website modernization: We have not updated our site since 2006. Meanwhile, so many Web technology changes — both hardware and software — rapidly took place over the years, and these altered the tastes and habits of Web users. Seeing these developments made us realize that the time was ripe to modernize our site and revise its layout and presentation to fit all screens and devices that Web visitors now use.
24 /7 Support: After Marco Tiggelaar moved to China (see related topic The Founder Moves to China below), the company grasped the opportunity to cover multiple time zones and acquired the ability to offer 24-hour emergency support (English language only).
WSP support: With new-found time in China, Marco started providing free support for Websitepanel (WSP) to the community. Demand of the community soon grew higher, prompting us to start providing Premium Services specialized in WSP and related products like Exchange 2010/2013.
Launched Server support After making a record of successfully maintaining our own servers for many years, we decided to let others benefit from our experience, technical know-how and skill. We began to include server deployment service, support, and user manuals in our server solutions package for customers.
The founder moves to China: Key4ce CEO Marco Tiggelaar moved to Shenzhen, China and let his brother Nike Tiggelaar take over on-site tech support. Marco is still active in Server support and Remote Desktop support.
Remote Desktop program: Key4ce had been using a third-party remote desktop program for many years, but this was not always easy for our customers to use. To solve this problem, Key4ce developed its own Remote Desktop software which turned out to be faster and more user friendly than the third-party product.
New panel release: To respond to the increased demand of our own hosting services, Key4ce updated our Panel to allow full automation of everything we have to offer our customers.
Stopped Dedicated and colocated server hosting: Unable to find a good, suitable, and trustworthy data center where we could put our servers as well as those of our customers, we discontinued dedicated and colocated services and instead focused on our main areas of expertise.
Started Hosted exchange 2007 Service: Key4ce staff members have been using their own Microsoft Exchange 2007 server and email for over a year. During that period we drew a lot of attention from customers who were interested to use Microsoft Exchange. Acting on customers' advice, we went into the Exchange hosting services business.
Started our new online services: We launched an online services business that offered Web hosting, e-mail hosting, dedicated server hosting, and collocated server hosting. This spared our customers from worries about their sites and services being down.
Became Microsoft Partner: A majority of our customers were Microsoft Windows users, and this created the need for us to provide them a substantial degree of support for Windows. Because of this we became a Microsoft partner and enjoyed privileges like receiving better support from Microsoft and beta-testing and learning about new Microsoft products before any of our customers even hear about it.
New partners: We entered into contracts to work on behalf of KPN, Het Net, Planet Internet, UPC, XS4ALL, Guidion and other giant Internet Providers in The Netherlands.
New team member: Trevor Robinson joined Compnetix to open our doors in the United Kingdom. Compnetix turned out to be an impractical name in England so the company name was changed to Key4ce.
Our company was born: Key4ce was founded in 2006 by Marco Tiggelaar under the name of Compnetix in The Netherlands. Compnetix was originally a computer repair company helping people at their homes instead of the more common carry-in service.
